The sheriff’s deputy from the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office, who remains unnamed, was placed on leave following the incident that occurred on Monday, WTVD reported. The sheriff’s office told the news station that deputies were called to a home in Sanford, North Carolina, after someone complained about illegal drug activity on Monday around 10:40 a.m. The deputies said they had smelled marijuana coming from a parked car outside of the home.

Authorities told the news station that the deputies discovered that the man in the driver’s seat of the car had active warrants and had found a gun under the driver’s seat once he was detained. The deputies also allegedly found a small amount of pot on one of the female’s sitting in the car, WTVD reported.

At the start of the video, a deputy can be seen detaining one of the male teens. One woman recording the video asks why he’s being detained and claims the officer told her he was being “jittery.” The second deputy asks who lives in the home behind them, and the woman says that the teen lives there with his brother and father, who were not home. The video then cuts to a deputy tackling one of the teen girls.

“Yo! What are you doing right now, she didn’t do anything,” says the woman behind the camera as the other woman is thrown to the ground. “Why are you doing that? What did she do?”

The women accuse the deputy of arresting the woman because she was recording the incident on her phone, but then the deputy approaches the second woman and tackles her to the ground. He grabs her phone and can be heard saying that it’s for “evidence.”

The video has already garnered more than one million views and 24,000 shares on Facebook. Aumbria Urvin, who identified as the second woman recording the incident, told WTVD on Tuesday that she is shocked the video went viral. She told the news station her sister had started recording the incident and then recorded her being tackled by the officer.

“I’m disgusted,” she said. “After each of us were patted down, we both started recording and asking why [my boyfriend] was being detained.”

A similar incident occurred after a Washington State police officer was seen kicking a teenage boy to the ground while breaking up a fight in September. The Washington state police launched an investigation into the incident after a video went viral of the boy being kicked by the officer at the Central Washington State Fair.
