Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Amrita VishwaVidyapeetham, Amritapuri is hosting the 9th International Symposium on Embedded Computing and System Design (ISED) from 13th to 14th December 2019. The thrust areas addressed in the symposium are Embedded System Design (ESD), Software Systems and Application Design (SSD), Real-time systems and Applications (RTA), Signal Processing and Applications (SPA), Wireless/Wired Communication Systems and Networks (WCSN), Power System Automation (PSA) and so on.
The Inaugural address was delivered by Dr. Eric Butcher, Professor of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering at The University of Arizona. He spoke about the various applications used by the University of Arizona and about space machines. To quote Dr. Eric Butcher, “It is an honour to be here and speak with you all. Aerospace engineering students in our department at the University of Arizona, in fact, often choose aerospace engineering to fulfil their dream to work in the space industry or planetary machine. It is important to learn from your mistakes and I like to say that the journey is what’s important than the destination. Students must develop themselves to master their subjects and become successful researchers”. The Guest of Honour, Dr.Ramalingam Sridhar, Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Buffalo, said: “The most important thing is to always watch what you achieve and it will never get stopped at any level. You can keep going higher and higher and that’s what brings success for everyone.”
38 papers on different topics will be presented in the technical sessions. Hundreds of International and National experts including Assistant Professor of Engineering Science and Mechanics, Dr.Saptarshi Das, Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, Dr.Bhargab B. Bhattacharya, Dr. Vishal Saraswat from Robert Bosch Engineering and Business Solutions Private. Ltd., Senior Principal Architect, Automotive Business, DMTS, Texas Instruments, MihirMody etc. are participating in the conference to interact with young researchers in Computer Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
Other highlights of the programme were: welcome address by Dr. M. Ravishankar, Chairperson, Electronics and Communication Engineering, felicitation by Dr.Balakrishnan Shankar, Associate Dean, Amritapuri, Dr.Jyothi S.N, Principal of Amrita School of Engineering, Amritapuri, Dr. V M Nandakumar, Principal of Amrita School of Arts and Science, and vote of thanks by Program Chair, ISED-2019, Dr.Purushothaman. The past few decades have witnessed rapid advances in sophisticated circuits, algorithms and systems to tackle many difficult problems and the hardware/software platforms to realize these solutions in physical form. Many of these solutions have been in the form of portable, embedded or wearable devices and systems while others have been distributed, decentralized and massively networked. A System on Chip (SoC) technology embodies and symbolizes much of these advances. AnSoC system comprises of several cooperating, interacting, potentially heterogeneous hardware/firmware/software subsystems. Developments in these domains will have a large role to play in future electronic system design and technologies focusing on user-friendly, eco-sensitive and energy-efficient systems.
