Brennan Center for Justice’s Myrna Pérez to Present Voting Law Changes at League of Women Voters’ Annual Meeting

(Bergen County, New Jersey; May 28, 2015)–Myrna Pérez, Deputy Director of the Brennan Center for Justice’s Democracy Program, will present Voting Law Changes in Advance of the 2016 Election at theLeague of Women Voters of Northern Valley’s (LWVNV) annual meeting.  The meeting will be held on June 2 at Griffin’s Bar & Grill located at 44 East Madison Avenue in Cresskill, New Jersey.  The public is invited to attend.

Registration begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by a dinner comprised of a choice of soup or salad, three entrees, dessert and coffee.  The charge for the dinner is $25 per person with a cash bar.

The Brennan Center is a non-partisan, public policy and law institute that focuses on the fundamental issues of democracy and justice.  Ms. Pérez is the author of several nationally recognized reports, and articles, including Election Day Long Lines: Resource Allocation (September 2014) and If Section 5 Falls: New Voting Implications (June 2013).  Her work has been featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, MSNBC, The Christian Science Monitor, and The Huffington Post. She has testified before several state legislatures on a variety of voting rights related issues.  Currently, Ms. Pérez also serves as an Adjunct Professor of Clinical Law at the New York University School of Law.

She earned her undergraduate degree in Political Science from Yale University and a master’s degree in public policy from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.  Ms. Pérez received the Robert F. Kennedy Award for Excellence in Public Service.  She graduated from Columbia Law School, where she was a Lowenstein Public Interest Fellow.
