Mumbai: In a tragic incident, a 24-year-old student committed suicide after jumping from the 19th floor of Taj Lands Hotel in Bandra.
As per information, the youth Arjun Bhardwaj – a native of Bangalore – ended his life after going live via social media website Facebook on Monday evening. He was a third year Bcom student from Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics.
As per the police, Bhardwaj had checked into the hotel at 3.30 am. No one was aware of what was going inside the room, as Bhardwaj frequently ordered foo and by the time people heard him breaking the window of his room with a chair, it was too late.
The depressed individual also left a suicide note, where he stated that he was addicted to drugs and badly depressed, adding that he wanted to end his life.
“I’m a drug addict…I don’t want to live anymore and hence committing suicide,” the official said, quoting the suicide note purportedly written by him.
The suicide note was found from the hotel room. The hotel’s security personnel said they heard a loud thud on the premises and soon rushed to the spot where they found Bhardwaj lying in pool of blood.
He was taken to nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
While the Facebook Live video is not there on his profile now, the subject of the recording was a tutorial on how to commit suicide. The Mumbai Police also requested the media to not run the disturbing video.
In a tweet, the Mumbai Police urged youngsters to reach out to them.
Bhardwaj had submitted proper documents before checking in, which helped the officials identify him. The body has been sent for post-mortem.
