Not long after a mammoth federal climate change report was published Friday, a month before expected, Congresswoman-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said “people are going to die” if Congress doesn’t take immediate action.

A multi-layered report just released outlines a brutal hit to health and economic costs to the United States. The report interlaces global warming, natural disasters, fracturing infrastructure, depleting agriculture and California wildfires to indicate a gloomy scenario for the United States by the year 2100.

According to one report, climate change could slice 10 percent of the country’s gross domestic product by 2100 if steps aren’t taken to reduce its progression.

Enter the Democrats’ face of the left-wing socialist, progressive movement to serve notice with a stern warning if it doesn’t happen. Newly-elected representative Ocasio-Cortez of New York said “people will die” if action isn’t taken now. Ocasio-Cortez fired off this Tweet in response to the 1,656-page report.

“People are going to die if we don’t start addressing climate change ASAP. It’s not enough to think it’s “important.” We must make it urgent. That’s why we need a Select Committee on a Green New Deal, & why fossil fuel-funded officials shouldn’t be writing climate change policy.”

Her message on the worldwide web comes not long after she sent a message of wanting healthcare and college for Americans, and “our climate to be saved from cataclysmic disaster.”

The climate change report includes a $141 billion impact from heat-related deaths, $118 billion from sea levels rising and $32 billon from infrastructure damage by century’s end.

Ocasio-Cortez is a self-proclaimed Democrat socialist who has been quick on the trigger when it comes to current events, especially when it comes to jabbing back at Republicans, who have made her their own left-wing punching bag.

Just this week, Ocasio-Cortez sniped at former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin for calling the neophyte Congresswoman a civic flunkie for saying Congress has three chambers.

“If we work our butts off to make sure that we take back all three chambers of Congress — Uh, rather, all three chambers of government: the presidency, the Senate, and the House,” Ocasio-Cortez said in a video interview. “We can’t start working in 2020.”

Ocasio-Cortez turned her rebuttal to healthcare.

“Maybe instead of Republicans drooling over every minute of footage of me in slow-mo, waiting to chop up word slips that I correct in real-tomd (sic), they actually step up enough to make the argument they want to make: that they don’t believe people deserve a right to healthcare.”

Then, Ocasio-Cortez swiped at Republican commentators on Fox News, accusing them of “stalking, doctoring and editing” her social media livestream videos to hit at the freshman Congresswoman-elect.

“Cognitive dissonance is Republican commentators stalking, doctoring, and editing my casual livestreams out of context…all while blindly supporting a man who thinks our greatest defense against forest fires is: A Rake,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted this week..

Ocasio-Cortez will not be sworn into office until the new year, but she’s already starting to cause her own ripple in Washinton.
