Moscow: (AFP) Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani said on Sunday that if the US removes all sanctions, then we are ready for talks. Rouhani said that America should stop threatening us. There is tension between the two countries after two oil tankers exploded in Oman Bay and an American intelligence drone was shot down by Iran last month.
Iran crossed fixed limit of uranium enrichment: Iran has crossed the fixed limit of 3.67% of uranium enrichment under the International Atomic Agreement and it has been increased to 4.5%. On May 8 2018, US President Donald Trump walked out of Iran’s nuclear deal. Since then, relations between the two countries have been tense.
Iran had signed nuclear deal in 2015: In 2015, Iran signed an agreement with the US, China, Russia, Germany, France, and Britain. Under the agreement, Iran had agreed to restrain its nuclear program if the sanctions imposed on it were removed.
But Tehran has amassed more low-enriched uranium than permitted and has started to enrich uranium above the 3.67% permitted by the agreement.
Iran has now said it is ready to hold talks with the United States if Washington lifts sanctions and returns to the 2015 nuclear deal it quit last year, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said in a televised speech on Sunday.
U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration has said it is open to negotiations with Iran on a more far-reaching agreement on nuclear and security issues.
Iran has made any talks conditional: But Iran has made any talks conditional on first being able to export as much oil as it did before the United States withdrew from the nuclear pact with world powers in May 2018.
“We have always believed in talks … if they lift sanctions, end the imposed economic pressure and return to the deal, we are ready to hold talks with America today, right now and anywhere,” Rouhani said.
Existing U.S. sanctions have targeted Iran’s main foreign revenue from crude oil exports.
