Please take a moment to read and share my message.
My name is Vijai Nair. I’m 30 years old and live in New York. I recently learned that I need a kidney transplant, and that a living donor is my best chance for survival.
About 10 years ago, I found out I had IgA nephropathy. In short, this disease damages the filters in the kidneys and has no cure. Until 9 months ago, I had managed to keep the symptoms in check and slow its progression. In September of 2019, I developed shingles, which caused my kidneys to quickly take a turn for the worse. A biopsy in October revealed significant renal scarring and confirmed that my kidneys are failing (stage 4 chronic kidney disease).
I have been taking extreme measures and treatments to try to preserve whatever renal function was left. Some of you may have noticed this when I drastically changed my diet. Unfortunately, things declined much faster than my doctors and I had hoped. We’ve reached the point where I am now at end-stage renal disease and require a transplant in order to stay alive.
I want to be healthy again, continue experiencing life, and enjoy the little things! I look forward to the day where I am no longer constantly tired and unwell. A kidney from a living donor can save my life.
If you would like to know more about the donation process, please visit: https://columbiasurgery.org/…/living-donor-kidney-transplan….
If you would consider being my living donor, please complete the “I Want to Donate” form found in the previous link. Donation costs are covered by my insurance, and the information you share will be kept confidential with the transplant team.
It was incredibly difficult to open up and ask for help like this. Please Like and Share this post to spread awareness and help me improve my odds for a second chance at life.
Thank you for taking the time to hear me out. I truly appreciate it!
