(Bergen County, NJ; May 4, 2021) — Democratic candidates, running in New Jersey’s legislative district 37 primary election for Senate and Assembly races, will participate in a Virtual Candidates Forum on Wednesday, May 26 at 7:30 p.m. The Candidates Forum, sponsored by the Leagues of Women Voters of Bergen County, Teaneck and Northern Valley, will be moderated by the League’s time-honored, non-partisan moderator and is open to the public.
Six candidates are running in District 37’s Democratic primary. Valerie Vainieri Huttle and Gordon M. Johnson are running for one state Senate seat. Lauren M. K. Dayton, Shama A. Haider, Ellen J. Park and Gervonn C. Romney-Rice are competing for two state Assembly seats.
The public is invited to attend, by ZOOM, and submit questions for the candidates by registering at https://ucsusa.zoom.us/
Legislative district 37 includes these municipalities: Alpine, Bogota, Cresskill, Englewood, Englewood Cliffs, Fort Lee, Hackensack, Leonia, Northvale, Palisades Park, Rockleigh, Teaneck and Tenafly. The candidates’ forum provides an opportunity for voters to hear candidates’ views on important topics affecting New Jersey, such as redistricting, infrastructure, taxes and education. The primary election takes place on June 8, with polls open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
