Young Family Volunteers in Action (YUVA) is an initiative started by Kerala Hindus of North America (KHNA) to promote family values and ethics among the younger generation. Speaking on the occasion Dr. Swamy highlighted the need to infuse moral values in the minds of posterity in an era where cultural moorings are unfortunately taking a back seat. He called upon the younger generation to dedicate and devote themselves to the cause of the common man in the street and to never forget the reality that a large portion of our population still lives below the poverty line.
Kerala Hindus of North America (KHNA) was formed in 2001 from the far sighted vision and motivation of Late Swamiji Sathyananda Saraswathi to unite all Hindus with the goal of preserving Sanatana Dharma [“Sanatana” is a Sanskrit word that denotes that which is beginningless, endless and that which is eternal and everlasting. With its rich connotations, Dharma is not translatable to any other language. Its approximate meaning is “Natural Law,” or those principles of reality which are inherent in the very nature and design of the universe. Thus the term Sanatana Dharma can be roughly translated to “the natural, ancient and eternal way.”]. The organization provides a platform for all Kerala Hindus in North America to get together without any social divisions of caste and creed. From a humble start in 2001, KHNA has grown to a big family of several thousands of members.
YuVA Sangamam 2014 was the third of its kind since the inception of this organization -the first two such conclaves having been held at New York & Washington DC.
