Humanities and Discover Jersey Arts Month"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-630028\" src=\"https:\/\/www.malayalamdailynews.com\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Mural-Reveal-Celebration-Flyer.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"768\" height=\"994\" \/>Hackensack (New Jersey) \u2014The Northern New Jersey Community Foundation&#8217;s (NNJCF) ArtsBergen initiative joins thousands of arts organizations, programs and communities nationwide to celebrate National Arts and Humanities Month and Discover Jersey Arts Month in the Garden State.\u00a0\u00a0The NNJCF, a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization headquartered in Hackensack, New Jersey, focuses primarily on the arts, civic engagement, education, the environment, philanthropy, and public health.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><u>Black Women&#8217;s Mural to be Painted\u00a0<\/u><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0From October 28 through November 11, the public is invited to\u00a0watch artist Tatyana Fazlalizadeh paint the &#8220;Black Women&#8217;s Mural:\u00a0Celebrating Black Suffragists and Black Women\u00a0in Englewood&#8221; using the design input from Black women in the city and the larger community.\u00a0\u00a0During those days, the painting takes place during general hours Monday through Friday from 10:00\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/a.m.to\/\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http:\/\/a.m.to&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1666616492694000&amp;usg=AOvVaw0_vTRMpAFv0ilczUIxXkOl\" target=\"_blank\">a.m.to<\/a>\u00a06:00 p.m.\u00a0\u00a0Filming of a video, sponsored by the Woman\u2019s Club of Englewood and the Teaneck Englewood And Vicinity Club of\u00a0the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women\u2019s Clubs, Inc., will also take place, documenting the project and mural process, as a memorable event in women\u2019s history in Englewood.\u00a0\u00a0The design will be painted and revealed on the east-facing wall of The Women&#8217;s Rights Information Center building, located at 108 West Palisade Avenue in downtown\u00a0Englewood, New Jersey.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-630032 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.malayalamdailynews.com\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Tatyana-Profile-Pic-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"275\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Fazlalizadeh, a Black-Iranian visual artist and Oklahoma City native, is a painter, whose work ranges from the gallery to the streets, using visual art to address the daily oppressive experiences of marginalized people through beautifully drawn and painted portraits.\u00a0\u00a0Her street art series, \u201cStop Telling Women to Smile\u201d, addressing sexual harassment in public spaces, appears on walls across the globe.\u00a0\u00a0In 2019, she was the inaugural Public Artist in Residence for the New York City Commission on Human Rights.\u00a0\u00a0The New York Times, NPR, MSNBC, the New Yorker, and Time Magazine profiled her work.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><u>Black Women&#8217;s Mural Reveal<\/u><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The mural will celebrate Black women&#8217;s voices, raise awareness about Black suffragists, and encourage civil discourse within the community.\u00a0\u00a0The official reveal of the Black Women&#8217;s Mural takes place on November 14, 2022 at 3 p.m. in an outdoor ceremony.\u00a0\u00a0The Northern New Jersey Community Foundation and its partners invite the public to celebrate the completion of this\u00a0special project driven by Englewood Black women and the Black suffragists, who inspired them.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The NNJCF&#8217;s ArtsBergen initiative\u00a0is implementing the project in collaboration with these community partners: The Women\u2019s Rights Information Center, Metro Community Center, and the Woman\u2019s Club of Englewood<strong><em>.\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0The major supporters for the project are the NNJCF, AARP New Jersey, Valley Bank, Sozosei Foundation, Visions Federal Credit Union, Age-Friendly Englewood, and PNC Bank.\u00a0\u00a0Learn more about the project on the Foundation&#8217;s website at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/AARPCommunityGrant\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/bit.ly\/AARPCommunityGrant&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1666616492694000&amp;usg=AOvVaw2rwvQ8uvSJFcMIf6vejtfW\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/bit.ly\/AARPCommunityGrant<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/3qpZvTG\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http:\/\/bit.ly\/3qpZvTG&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1666616492694000&amp;usg=AOvVaw3IwoEQiwsXmqUbNNdHI5EZ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bit.ly\/3qpZvTG<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><u>SACKtoberfest Kicked Off the Arts Celebration<\/u><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0On the beautiful, sunny Saturday of October 15, the NNJCF&#8217;s ArtsBergen kicked off National Arts &amp; Humanities Month and celebrated Discover Jersey Arts Month with three free public arts projects focused on storytelling activities held at SACKtoberfest in a fun Oktoberfest event in Atlantic Park in Hackensack.\u00a0\u00a0The three family friendly events featured:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong> &#8220;Our Stories Are Main Street&#8221; Community Tiled Mural.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>The nonprofit co-Lab Arts collaborated with muralist Amrisa Niranjan to design an arts mural cut into tiles on which festival participants shared their own \u2018Main Street moments\u2019.\u00a0\u00a0A photo of the finished arts mural and the stories will be incorporated into the \u2018Stories on Main Story Map\u2019 on The SACK Business Alliance\u2019s website.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong> The Hacktivator\u2019, an arts favorite!\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Two sets of actors performed a participant-prompted comedy improvisation and \u2018mad lib stories\u2019 for participants activating the Hacktivator booth.\u00a0\u00a0Passersby activated the \u2018Hacktivator\u2019 and watched the actors from Howdy Stranger, as well as Claire Porter and\u00a0Renee Reddings Jones\u00a0create a personal comedy performance just for them.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The\u00a0<strong>\u2018Stories on Main Street\u2019 Docuseries.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><strong>This series,\u00a0<\/strong>highlighting the inspirational stories of immigrant business owners on Main Street in Hackensack, was<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>presented in two screenings at the Hackensack Performing Arts Center.\u00a0\u00a0The featured business owners were Domenico and Marco Daniele from Coffee Break and Nelfita Rodas from Colombia Bakery Factory.\u00a0 The series also presented Yusef and Tugce Ural from El Turco Grill and Aida Yungasaca from Colombia Fashion LLC telling their stories.\u00a0\u00a0Award-winning filmmaker Dana Glazer filmed and produced the four, five-minute documentaries spotlighting immigrants, who own and run a business on Main Street in Hackensack.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><u>Celebrate the Contributions of the Arts<\/u><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0During National Arts &amp; Humanities Month, the NNJCF&#8217;s ArtsBergen initiative brings the message of the important contributions of the arts to communities in northern New Jersey.\u00a0\u00a0Members of the community and artists in all fields are encouraged to participate in what has become the country\u2019s largest annual collective celebration of the arts and humanities.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u201cWhether you watch or listen or do it yourself, the arts allow us to explore ideas, express emotions, and better appreciate other cultures.
