Photo Credit: The Community Chest of Eastern Bergen County<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Eastern Bergen County, New Jersey; September 24, 2023) &#8212; High school students can get a head start on planning for college and their financial knowledge in The Community Chest of Eastern Bergen County-Young Women\u2019s Leadership Program\u2019s \u2018College Preparatory and Financial Literacy Workshop\u2019, scheduled for Sunday, October 22.\u00a0\u00a0The workshop is\u00a0<strong><u>free\u00a0<\/u><\/strong>and will be held at the JCC on the Palisades, located at 411 East Clinton Avenue in Tenafly, New Jersey, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.\u00a0\u00a0Lunch will be provided.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0High school male and female students in eastern Bergen County are invited to attend.\u00a0\u00a0Parents also welcome to attend the workshop.\u00a0\u00a0As space is limited, advanced registration is required to attend the workshop.\u00a0\u00a0Students and parents interested in attending the workshop may register online at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/tinyurl.com\/FinLitCollegePrep2023\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/tinyurl.com\/FinLitCollegePrep2023&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1695600793733000&amp;usg=AOvVaw3BY--Zmtbn1g53NMy5mOHo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/tinyurl.com\/FinLitCollegePrep2023<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0During the workshop, participants will learn about the college application process and the art of preparing a college essay.\u00a0\u00a0Banking basics will be presented about the positives and negatives of debt.\u00a0\u00a0An in-depth discussion will examine the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the CSS forms completed by students to determine their eligibility for need-based aid.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Speakers for the workshop are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Emily Bloom of Athena College Advisors, AICEP;<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Representatives from Valley Bank of Englewood &amp; Tenafly; and<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Phyllis Kesslen from Bergen Family Center.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;We are delighted to welcome Emily Bloom, Phyllis Kesslen, and staff from Valley Bank to provide vital information to college-bound students.\u00a0\u00a0At a time when the cost of higher education is growing exponentially, young people and their families need to become familiar with the college application process and the expenses they will incur in the future,&#8221; said Dr. Shelly Wimpfheimer, Executive Director, The Community Chest of Eastern Bergen County.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_659009\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-659009\" style=\"width: 410px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-659009 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.malayalamdailynews.com\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/luhrs.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"410\" height=\"513\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-659009\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Students and parents heard from experts about the college financial aid process.
