Art on Display graphic<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Hackensack, New Jersey; October 5, 2023) \u2013 The Northern New Jersey Community Foundation- ArtsBergen (NNJCF) celebrates National Arts and Humanities Month throughout October.\u00a0\u00a0During the month, the NNJCF invites the public to see the \u201cBarrels O\u2019Art\u201d exhibit, a free display of colorful, beautifully painted rain barrels in Carver Park in the City of Hackensack.\u00a0\u00a0The temporary art installation of rain barrels will be on display at\u00a0Carver Park, 302 2<sup>nd<\/sup>\u00a0Street in Hackensack, through November 7.\u00a0\u00a0The rain barrels beautify the flood-prone neighborhood and educate the public about flooding.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><u>Barrels O\u2019 Art Project Installed<\/u><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Northern New Jersey Community Foundation&#8217;s ArtsBergen initiative\u00a0formed a selection committee comprised of Hackensack artists, community leaders, and residents to review the artists\u2019 applications.\u00a0\u00a0They\u00a0selected these 11 artists from Hackensack and other municipalities in New Jersey to paint murals on the rain barrels in the &#8220;Barrels O&#8217; Art&#8221; project:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fiona Clark, Bloomfield<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Anthony Coplan, Wood-Ridge<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Emily Gilman Beezley, Manasquan<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Toney Jackson, Hackensack<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lissanne Lake, North Bergen<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Guillermo Lopez, Ridgefield Park<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dianna Mammone, Rochelle Park<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">John Newcomb, Leonia<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Amrisa Niranjan, Hackensack<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Copie Rodriguez, Garfield<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sasha Zinevych, Hackensack<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Each rain barrel provided a canvas for a painted mural.\u00a0\u00a0The selected artists painted themes on the barrels compiled from a survey distributed earlier to residents of Hackensack.\u00a0\u00a0Examples of those themes included animals, fantasy, architecture, cultural diversity, environmental protection, education, sports\/athletics and the City of Hackensack in the future.\u00a0The barrels raise awareness through the arts about ways to prevent future flooding, issues around environmental justice, and green infrastructure solutions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><u>Win a Free Rain Barrel<\/u><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0All of the rain barrels in the display will be given away to Hackensack residents and organizations through a random drawing.\u00a0\u00a0People interested in receiving a free painted rain barrel\u00a0may sign up here:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/tinyurl.com\/Hackensackbarrels\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/tinyurl.com\/Hackensackbarrels&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1696641212174000&amp;usg=AOvVaw1mgDib-JGLRtcYus0B62Gm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/tinyurl.com\/Hackensackbarrels<\/a>\u00a0.\u00a0\u00a0Similarly, Hackensack residents and organizations may sign up to win a free, unpainted rain barrel.\u00a0\u00a0Only one barrel is available per resident or organization on a first-come, first-served basis.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><u>Green Infrastructure and Environmental Justice for Flood Mitigation Project<\/u><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0With a 2023 AARP Community Challenge Flagship Grant, the public art and education project, Barrels O&#8217;
