(Eastern Bergen County, New Jersey; October 6, 2023) — The League of Women Voters of Northern Valley (LWVNV) wants citizens to be informed to participate in New Jersey’s General Election on November 7.\u00a0\u00a0The League is working to ensure voters find accurate, nonpartisan election information on the voting resource site, VOTE411.org.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The League of Women Voters of Northern Valley encourages voters to visit the site early.\u00a0\u00a0They can access the voter guide for their community on VOTE411.org and make a voting plan to cast their vote in the General Election on\u00a0November 7.\u00a0\u00a0The voter guide presents responses from candidates running for\u00a0municipal offices and\u00a0all 120 members of the New Jersey Legislature.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0“Voters in the region should educate themselves about the voting process and the candidates running for office, and exercise their right to vote.\u00a0\u00a0From local to state races, it is important for voters in the LWVNV’s 29 municipalities to make their voices heard in the next election,\u201d said\u00a0Joyce Luhrs,\u00a0<\/strong>Vice President, League of Women Voters of Northern Valley.\u00a0\u00a0\u201cVOTE411.org is a nonpartisan, one-stop shop resource providing the electorate with the resources they need to make an informed vote this fall.\u201d<\/p>\n

Register to Vote<\/u><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0In New Jersey, eligible voters may register to vote online, by mail or in person at the County Clerk’s Office.\u00a0\u00a0The voter registration deadline to vote in the\u00a0November 7\u00a0election is Tuesday, October 17.\u00a0\u00a0If a voter is already registered to vote, they should check if their status is correct and active.\u00a0\u00a0A voter should reregister if they move, change their name, or completed a sentence of incarceration.\u00a0\u00a0People on parole or probation may register to vote in New Jersey. Voter registration information may be found on VOTE411.org.<\/p>\n

About League of Women Voters of Northern Valley<\/u><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The League of Women Voters of Northern Valley, a chapter of the League of Women Voters (LWV), is a non-partisan, grassroots civic organization that encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of public policy issues and influences public policy through education and advocacy.\u00a0\u00a0The LWV was an outgrowth of the 19th Amendment passed in 1920 giving women the right to vote.\u00a0\u00a0Today, the LWV operates at the state and local levels through more than 700 state and local Leagues in all 50 states and in Washington D.C., the Virgin Islands and Hong Kong.<\/p>\n
