\"\"Hackensack, New Jersey: The Northern New Jersey Community Foundation (NNJCF) invites the public to attend the Environmental Justice Alliance\u2019s second community meeting on Monday, January 29 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.\u00a0 The meeting takes place at The Second Reformed Church, located at 436 Union Street in Hackensack, New Jersey 07601, and is free.\u00a0 This meeting follows an initial meeting held on November 27, 2023 that introduced the public to this project that will help reduce future flooding in Hackensack and make neighborhoods in the city greener and healthier.<\/p>\n

During the second meeting, the Northern New Jersey Community Foundation will discuss actions the group plans to take this year to address flooding and increase green infrastructure in the City of Hackensack.\u00a0 Actions to be discussed include installing a rain garden at a location to be announced in the future and creating a green infrastructure plan.\u00a0 The NNJCF will discuss the impact of recent flooding occurrences in the city and will also present another environmental initiative under development — Hackensack River Nation.<\/p>\n

Participants in the meeting will learn how they can get involved with developing the rain garden or the green infrastructure plan.\u00a0 The NNJCF invites anyone living or working in Hackensack, who would like to be involved in addressing flooding in the city or to help beautify Central Hackensack through additional green infrastructure, to attend and participate.<\/p>\n

Green Infrastructure for Environmental Justice<\/u><\/p>\n

This community meeting is part of the NNJCF’s Green Infrastructure for Environmental Justice project.\u00a0 The project seeks to reduce flooding and improve environmental conditions for residents in central Hackensack and other parts of the city affected by flooding.\u00a0 More information about this project may be found at\u00a0http:\/\/tinyurl.com\/GreenInfrastructureJustice<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The meeting is produced by the Northern New Jersey Community Foundation in partnership with the City of Hackensack and Greater Bergen Community Action, as well as residents of Hackensack and representatives from several organizations in Hackensack.\u00a0 The project is supported in part by The Funders Network, AARP, Valley Bank Foundation, M&T Bank Foundation, PSEG Foundation, the Hackensack Rotary Club, and other supporters.<\/p>\n
