of $20,000 from M&amp;T Charitable Foundation.\u00a0\u00a0This grant supports key programs and projects the NNJCF is undertaking:\u00a0Green Infrastructure for Environmental Justice, Beyond the Wall, and Hackensack River Nation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe thank M&amp;T Charitable Foundation for their generous support of the Northern New Jersey Community Foundation and our work in the northern region of the state.\u00a0\u00a0As a first-time recipient from M&amp;T Charitable Foundation, this grant supports three critical areas: green infrastructure for environmental justice, the\u00a0expansion of \u2018The Black Women\u2019s Mural\u2019 with the development of a website and interactive digital content, and\u00a0the launch and cultivation of Hackensack River Nation \u2013 an alliance working to protect the river\u2019s\u00a0watershed\u00a0and ecosystems,\u201d said Executive Director Leonardo Vazquez of the Northern New Jersey Community Foundation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><u>Green Infrastructure for Environmental Justice<\/u><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Green Infrastructure for Environmental Justice and Flood Mitigation\u00a0program addresses flooding issues in the City of Hackensack.\u00a0\u00a0In the city,\u00a0extensive stormwater flooding coupled\u00a0with climate change increased environmental and health risks particularly to Latinx, Black and other communities of color.\u00a0 The program complements the combined sewer separation work underway by the City of Hackensack.\u00a0\u00a0This helps especially areas in Hackensack the most prone to flooding during significant rainfalls.\u00a0\u00a0These areas have greater concentrations of Black, Latino and low- and moderate-income residents.\u00a0\u00a0The program also works to create a coalition of community residents from these areas striving to be stronger advocates for strategies to protect their neighborhoods from future 400;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The NNJCF\u2019s ArtsBergen initiative is developing an educational, inspirational website expounding on the meaning, significance and process of the creation of \u2018The Black Women\u2019s Mural: Celebrating Black Suffragists and Black Women in Englewood\u2019.\u00a0\u00a0This public artwork, painted by artist Tatyana Fazlalizadeh, appears on the exterior wall of the Women&#8217;s Rights Information Center&#8217;s building in the City of Englewood, New Jersey.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2018Beyond the Wall\u2019 expands upon the installation of \u2018The Black Women\u2019s Mural\u2019 with the development of a website and interactive digital content.\u00a0\u00a0Details about the histories, stories, and biographies of each of the six historic and living Black women represented in the mural will be created.\u00a0\u00a0The website will serve as an educational archive and a regional alliance \u2013 Hackensack River Nation \u2013 comprised of municipalities, nonprofits, environmental-oriented businesses and other organizations.\u00a0\u00a0Through this program, representatives from these organizations and agencies work together and identify strategies for better land use regulations and environmental policies, while also promoting economic development supporting the natural environment.\u00a0\u00a0This will also inspire more people in the area to get involved and protect the river and its watershed.\u00a0\u00a0Ultimately, this collaboration will
