While at the DNC headquarters, Harris was handed a phone by a staffer and enthusiastically greeted a supposed voter, saying, \u201cHow are you doing? Have you voted already?\u201d When the response appeared positive, Harris smiled and replied, \u201cYou did? Thank you!\u201d As the room burst into applause, Harris flipped her phone to share the moment, but the screen\u2019s display showed she was on the camera app.<\/p>\n

Harris continued with several other calls, urging voters to cast their ballots and stressing the importance of participating in the democratic process. \u201cThank you so very much for being active in this very important foundation of our democracy,\u201d she was reported saying, as per\u00a0Daily Mail<\/em>. In one call, she urged, \u201cRemind each other and everyone of the power of your voice, your vote.\u201d<\/p>\n

Following the incident, social media users quickly pointed out the phone mishap, sparking a wave of reactions. One user on X wrote, \u201cKamala Harris is such a phony. She says she\u2019s on a call, but it\u2019s the camera app.\u201d Another commented, \u201cIs this a staged call? You can\u2019t be on a call when the camera app is open, right?\u201d Another post read, \u201cHarris fakes a call to a voter! The photo app was open. So embarrassing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Yet, some defended Harris, with one user explaining, \u201cShe accidentally activated the Camera Control button (a new feature on iPhone 16). She was actually in a call\u2014the screen goes dark when she brings it back to her face, something that only happens when in an active call.\u201d<\/p>\n
