He said that last year, the TMC contested the Lok Sabha elections alone and did not face defeat in Bengal. “The BJP is adept at distracting people. TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee had previously expressed her desire to lead the India Bloc from Bengal. She said: “I formed the India Bloc, but they [opposition parties] are unable to keep it together. But I maintain the best relations with all national and regional parties.” Dismissing comments about her “national ambitions,” Mamata said: “I love Bengal and I don’t want to leave this land.
