Kolkata: Following the Bharatiya Janata Party’s landslide victory in the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections, Suvendu Adhikari’s name is being discussed as a potential Chief Ministerial candidate. Meanwhile, his affidavit submitted to the Election Commission has revealed some interesting information about his assets. This prominent BJP leader’s total declared assets are less than 1 crore rupees.<\/p>\n
According to the 2026 election affidavit of Shubhendu Adhikari, his total assets are around Rs 85.87 lakh .<\/p>\n
Movable assets: His movable assets are worth approximately \u20b924.57 lakh. Shockingly, he has only \u20b912,000 in cash.<\/p>\n
Vehicles and Jewellery: According to the affidavit, neither is there any car registered in his name nor has he disclosed any gold or silver jewellery he owns.<\/p>\n
Bank accounts: He has a total of 14 bank accounts, including those with major banks like SBI and PNB, as well as cooperative banks. These accounts hold a total of approximately \u20b97.34 lakh.<\/p>\n
Shubhendu Adhikari has no outstanding debt to any bank, private individual, or government department. He has invested a significant portion of his savings in safe instruments:<\/p>\n
NSC and KVP: Investment is Rs 5.45 lakh in National Savings Certificate and Rs 2.60 lakh in Kisan Vikas Patra.<\/p>\n
Insurance Policies: He has 6 LIC policies with a total value of around Rs 7.71 lakh.<\/p>\n
Immovable property worth Rs 61.30 lakh: Most of his immovable properties are located in East Medinipur, the political stronghold of the Adhikari family.<\/p>\n
Land: Cultivable land in Nandigram is worth around Rs 9.05 lakh, while other non-agricultural land is worth Rs 27.50 lakh.<\/p>\n
Flats: He owns flats in Tamluk and Kumarpur. The total value of these immovable properties is estimated at approximately \u20b961.30 lakh.<\/p>\n
According to his income tax returns, his annual income for 2024-25 was \u20b917.38 lakh . His main sources of income are his MLA salary, MP pension, and business income. Over the past five years, his annual income has increased from \u20b98 lakh to \u20b917 lakh. Regarding his criminal record, he has 29 pending cases against him. These include charges of defamation, theft, and money laundering, although he has not yet been convicted or charged in any of the cases.<\/p>\n
If we compare it with former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, there is a big difference in the figures:<\/p>\n
Total assets: Mamata Banerjee’s assets were \u20b915.37 lakh, while Suvendu Adhikari’s assets are about five and a half times more than that (\u20b985.87 lakh).<\/p>\n
Annual Income: Mamata Banerjee’s annual income (\u20b923.21 lakh) is more than that of Suvendu Adhikari (\u20b917.38 lakh).<\/p>\n
