\"\"Dehradun: Several important policy decisions were approved in the state cabinet meeting held on Thursday under the chairmanship of Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. A total of 12 important proposals were approved in this cabinet meeting. The meeting started on a very emotional note, where first of all, two minutes of silence was observed and tribute was paid to former Chief Minister Major General Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri and Padma Shri award winning veteran shooter Jaspal Rana, expressing deep sorrow over their demise.<\/p>\n

As soon as the cabinet meeting began, all ministers and senior officials prayed for the peace of the departed souls. On this occasion, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, remembering former Chief Minister Khanduri, said that his contributions to the state’s development, public service, and good governance are unforgettable. Regarding Jaspal Rana, he said that he brought glory to Uttarakhand and the entire country on the international stage through his exceptional sporting talent.<\/p>\n

The biggest and most relieving decision in this cabinet meeting was taken in favor of UPNL employees. The government has extended the cutoff date for the benefit of ‘equal work-equal pay’ from November 12, 2018 to August 15, 2024. This decision will provide direct financial benefits to thousands of additional employees in the state. Apart from this, the cabinet has also given the green signal to the ‘Uttarakhand Sanskrit Education Amendment Rules-2026’, after which necessary changes will be made in the arrangements related to the recognition of Sanskrit schools, their syllabus (curriculum) and the conduct of examinations.<\/p>\n

In another historic step in the field of education, the Secondary Education Department’s proposal was approved, under which Uttarakhand will now be declared a “fully literate state.” According to government data, the state’s literacy rate currently exceeds 98 percent. To promote tourism globally, the Cabinet approved the organization of the “International Himalayan Car Rally.” A prestigious organization in Madras will be entrusted with this responsibility, and approximately 50 international cars from around the world are expected to participate.<\/p>\n

Some other major decisions taken by the Uttarakhand cabinet are as follows:<\/p>\n

Chardham Yatra Assistance: The government will provide financial assistance at 5 percent insurance rate for horses and mules, which are the main source of local livelihood on the Yatra route.<\/p>\n

New Technology in Animal Husbandry: A pilot project of cattle-based ‘Embryo Transfer Technology’ (embryo transplantation) has been approved to rapidly increase milk production in the state.<\/p>\n

Relief to agitators: In Junior Assistant and Police Constable Recruitment-2024, state agitators or their dependents whose certificates were made late will be given a one-time special relaxation at the time of document verification.<\/p>\n

Export of herbal products: Modern lab facility will be developed at the Sagandh Kendra in Selaqui to check adulteration of herbal products, for which five new posts have also been approved.<\/p>\n

Other policies: Under the Public Works Department, a system will be established to control the price of bitumen, which has risen internationally due to the Middle East war. In the Excise Department, there will no longer be a double tax on duplicate holograms.
