\"\"<\/a>Chennai: Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leaders on Wednesday strongly condemned the Vijay Rupani-led government’s late-night raid on their home and attempted to arrest Anbananthan Ariyappan, coordinator of the party’s “Gen G” wing. State opposition leader Udhayanidhi Stalin said he strongly condemned the police’s attempt to enter Anbananthan Ariyappan’s home at midnight and arrest him. He said he has been holding meetings to unite the party’s Gen G. Similarly, recently, a young party member, Kani, was attacked by TVK goons while speaking at a Gen G meeting in Saidapet. Despite this, the police did not file a case against those who attacked Kani. Instead, it is alleged that the police intimidated him and forced him to leave the hospital where he was being treated.<\/p>\n

Pointing out the difference between these two incidents, the DMK accused the government of taking swift action against opposition members but taking no action against ruling party supporters accused of violence. The DMK leader said that if party youth speak out against the ruling party and the government, police are deployed, but when the attackers are from the TVK, officials simply stand by. He questioned whether this is the change that was promised to the public?<\/p>\n

Stalin also alleged that the ruling government is resorting to intimidation tactics because its image is weakening among young voters. The DMK warned the government against using law enforcement agencies to target opposition workers and said the party would not stand idly by if such actions continued. He said that the government’s hard-won image of administrative incompetence is crumbling among the youth. Unable to tolerate this, those in power are resorting to repression. He warned the current government that it is mistaken if it thinks it can intimidate the party’s youth by using the police.<\/p>\n

Opposition party leader Kanimozhi alleged that the government is targeting young people who question those in power. She warned that the youth of Tamil Nadu will oppose attempts to suppress the voices of critics. In a social media post, she said that the actions of the police under the TVK government are highly condemnable. Police allegedly entered a house at midnight and tried to arrest Anbananthan Ariyappan, coordinator of the DMK’s ‘Gen G’ wing. The TVK government may think it can suppress and silence young people who raise questions, but the youth of Tamil Nadu will soon give a befitting reply.<\/p>\n

These allegations come a day after a heated debate between the ruling TVK and the opposition DMK in the Tamil Nadu Assembly. On Tuesday, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani launched a scathing attack on the DMK, alleging that during its previous term in power, funds from various government departments were diverted into party funds. He further claimed that the previous DMK government had embezzled public money, a move that drew strong objections from opposition members. Opposition Leader Udhayanidhi Stalin immediately protested these remarks and demanded that the Chief Minister prove his allegations with evidence instead of making baseless accusations.
