The Upper House witnessed a heated debate and uproar between the ruling party and the opposition on this sensitive issue. Due to the ongoing deadlock, the Rajya Sabha proceedings were adjourned until the next day.

Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge attacked the government and strongly demanded the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Kharge stated in the House that the voices of the youth protesting on the streets cannot be ignored. He clarified that any further discussion or debate on this issue would be possible only after the Education Minister resigns. The opposition insisted on an immediate debate on this topic by stopping all other business under Rule 267.

Countering the opposition’s demands, Union Minister J.P. Nadda termed the opposition’s stance as anti-democratic and irresponsible. He said that the opposition is fleeing the debate by violating the decorum of the House and resorting to sloganeering. Nadda clarified that the central government is fully prepared to discuss every issue, including NEET, in accordance with rules and procedures, but the opposition is deliberately creating a deadlock by imposing conditions.

The paper leak controversy severely disrupted the proceedings of the upper house of Parliament for the second consecutive day. Repeated uproar and sloganeering prevented the House from proceeding smoothly. The government maintains that a debate can be scheduled after consultation with all political parties, while the opposition remains adamant on its demand for resignations.

Amid the parliamentary deadlock, the central government has initiated direct dialogue with the protesting students at Jantar Mantar. Union Minister Jitendra Singh stated that the government has sent four separate proposals for talks to student representatives. He stated that he and J.P. Nadda are fully prepared to meet with the student representatives at any location they choose to find a solution.

New Delhi: The massive protests at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar over the NEET paper leak are continuing to resonate in the Rajya Sabha.
