Air Marshal Jitendra Mishra, former chief of the Indian Air Force’s Western Air Command, has been given a significant responsibility for the Ayodhya Ram Temple. On Wednesday, September 2, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust appointed him as its first Chief Executive Officer<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

\"\"New Delhi:<\/span><\/span><\/strong>\u00a0Air Marshal Jitendra Mishra, former head of the Indian Air Force’s Western Air Command, has been given a significant responsibility for the Ayodhya Ram Temple. On Wednesday, September 2, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust appointed him as its first Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Mishra led the Western Air Command during Operation Sindoor and retired from the IAF on April 30, 2026.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The appointment comes at a time when Trust General Secretary Champat Rai and member Anil Mishra resigned from their posts following allegations of large-scale theft of donations at the temple.<\/span><\/p>\n

Following this, the Trust decided to create the position of CEO to make the temple’s administrative operations more transparent and professional. The Trust now wants to strengthen the temple’s financial and administrative systems.<\/span><\/p>\n

As CEO, Mishra will oversee the day-to-day operations of the temple. His responsibilities will include managing pilgrim facilities, financial and administrative arrangements, staff coordination, security, and preparations for major religious events. He has been appointed for a three-year term, during which time he will be required to reside in Ayodhya.<\/p>\n

The trust received an overwhelming response for the CEO position. A total of 5,585 people applied, of whom 3,570 completed the application form. A three-member search committee was formed on July 6th to select the candidate: retired Justice Pramod Kohli, retired Lieutenant General Vishnukant Chaturvedi, and Suresh Haware.Explore new places<\/p>\n

The selection process used AI-based screening and manual assessment. 3,577 candidates were initially screened using a 600-point evaluation framework, shortlisted those with 470+ points, virtual interviews with 108, and final interviews with 16 candidates in Ayodhya on August 11-12. Other contenders included former IPS officer Rajesh Pandey, former IAS officer Dinesh Chandra, retired IAS officer Yogeshwar Ram Mishra, and former IPS officer Paresh Saxena.<\/p>\n

Air Marshal Jitendra Mishra is a recipient of the Sarvottam Yudh Seva Medal, the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, and the Vishisht Seva Medal. He hails from Deoria, Uttar Pradesh. Commissioned as a fighter pilot in December 1986, he has over 3,000 flying hours, served as a fighter squadron CO, Chief Test Pilot at ASTE, and Commander of two frontline air bases.<\/p>\n

On the same day, the trust also appointed three new trustees \u2013 Mahesh Bhagchandka from Delhi, a relative of late VHP leader Ashok Singhal, Madan Mohan Pandey from Ayodhya and Nirmala Yadav from Shikohabad.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
