\"\"Chennai:<\/strong> Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday officially inaugurated the Poonamallee\u2013Vadapalani corridor, part of Phase II of the Chennai Metro Rail Project. Following the inauguration of the new corridor, constructed at a cost of approximately \u20b94,900 crore, the Prime Minister also took a metro train ride from Porur Bypass Station to Poonamallee Bypass Station to review the facilities and arrangements. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay was also present during the visit.<\/p>\n

During his visit, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stones for and inaugurated several other major development projects related to roads, railways, ports, energy, education, and medical research. The primary objectives of these projects are to strengthen connectivity, facilitate travel, boost business activities, and significantly expand modern infrastructure across the state.<\/p>\n

The major projects launched by the Prime Minister included national highway projects worth approximately \u20b93,700 crore. These projects are expected to improve road connectivity across Tamil Nadu, reduce travel time, and ease traffic congestion in major cities.<\/p>\n

Additionally, railway infrastructure projects worth over \u20b9750 crore were dedicated to the nation, including the Karaikal\u2013Paralam railway line and new railway flyovers in Coimbatore. Five modernised railway stations\u2014Palani, Vellore Cantonment, Ambasamudram, Paramakudi, and Namakkal\u2014were also inaugurated under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme to enhance passenger convenience and improve railway facilities.<\/p>\n

To boost maritime trade and logistics, several new facilities were inaugurated at Chennai Port, V.O. Chidambaranar Port, and Kamarajar Port. Four major facilities, including a concrete storage yard, an import-export warehouse, a modern cruise terminal, and a Seafarers’ Club, were inaugurated at Chennai Port.<\/p>\n

Additionally, the foundation stone was laid for the \u20b91,620-crore Lube Oil Base Stocks (LOBS) project at the Manali Refinery in Chennai. The project is expected to boost the domestic production of premium-quality lubricants and strengthen India’s industrial capabilities.<\/p>\n

In a major step forward in education and medical research, the Prime Minister dedicated the Sudha Gopalakrishnan Brain Centre (SGBC) at IIT Madras in Chennai to the nation. The centre will conduct scientific studies of more than 100 human brains and develop three-dimensional (3D) models at the cellular level.<\/p>\n

Additionally, a dedicated human brain atlas called “C-Stroke” was released to support stroke research. This initiative is expected to help researchers worldwide better understand brain disorders and identify new targets for more precise and effective treatments.<\/p>\n

During his visit, the Prime Minister also attended the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Jaigopal Garodia Hindu Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Chennai. The institution is celebrating 50 years of its establishment and its contribution to education.<\/p>\n

The school’s motto is “Sa Vidya Ya Vimuktaye,” which means that true knowledge liberates individuals from ignorance.
