Education Minister N. Shamsuddin informed the House that the state cannot unilaterally withdraw from the scheme.<\/p>\n<p>The minister stated that any amendment to the agreement could only be made with mutual consent. He added that further steps regarding the scheme would be decided based on the report of the subcommittee constituted to examine the matter.<\/p>\n<p>The minister said that the current crisis had arisen because the previous government had signed the agreement. He pointed out that Tamil Nadu was the only state that had not signed the agreement. The subcommittee has met twice, but its final report has yet to be prepared, he added.<\/p>\n<p>The minister also stated that the Union Education Minister had been requested to release the funds withheld under the scheme. He remarked that he was keen to raise the demand directly with the Union Minister during a face-to-face meeting.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, K. N. Balagopal asked whether the government was prepared to approach the court to secure the state&#8217;s share of central funds.
