New Delhi: Social activist Anna Hazare said about former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal that the national convener of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was doing good work as the Chief Minister, but he started opening liquor shops and as a result he had to face the anger of the people. On Rekha Gupta becoming the new CM of Delhi, Hazare said that it is a matter of pride for Delhi that a woman is sitting on the top chair.
He said that people have voted for Rekha Gupta because of her pure thoughts and actions. Anna said that as CM, Kejriwal should have set an example in front of the society, but he deviated from his path. The anti-corruption movement is credited with the birth of Aam Aadmi Party. Referring to the controversial excise policy of the AAP government, Anna Hazare said that earlier Kejriwal was doing good work and became the CM of Delhi thrice. I did not say anything against him because he was doing good work, but then he gradually started opening liquor shops and started issuing licenses. Then I got upset.
Kejriwal was once an associate of Anna Hazare in the anti-corruption movement. Hazare is a staunch opponent of the consumption or sale of liquor. The two fell out after Kejriwal formed the AAP in 2012. In the elections held earlier this month, the BJP ousted the AAP from power in Delhi and Kejriwal also lost.
