India won the Hockey Asia Cup for the fourth time, qualified for the World Cup by defeating South Korea 4-1 in the final

The final clash between India and South Korea has always been high voltage. Earlier, both the teams had come face to face in the final three times, in which Korea won twice and India won once. But this time on the soil of Rajgir, India not only won the title by playing brilliantly but also equaled the score 2-2 in the final matches against Korea.

Team India showed aggressive style right from the beginning of the final match. Sukhjeet scored a goal in the very first minute of the match and gave India the lead. Although it took time for the second goal to come after this, but just before halftime Dilpreet Singh made the score 2-0. The speed and passing of the Indian players had put the Korean defense on the backfoot.

India’s dominance continued in the second half as well. In the 45th minute, Dilpreet Singh scored his second goal and almost put the match in India’s favour. In the 50th minute, Amit Rohidas scored a goal to give the team a strong 4-0 lead. Korea tried to save honour by scoring a goal in the 57th minute, but it was too late by then.

With this victory, India won the Asia Cup for the fourth time. Team India had earlier won the title in 2017. India has played 9 finals of this tournament so far and has become the winner 4 times. Korea has won the title 5 times, but this time India showed dominance by defeating it in a one-sided manner.

With this title win, India has directly qualified for the Hockey World Cup to be held in 2026. This tournament will be played in Belgium and Netherlands. Under the leadership of coach Craig Fulton and captain Harmanpreet Singh, India performed brilliantly throughout the tournament and won the trophy without losing a single match. This victory has brought a new hope and confidence for Indian hockey.
