PM Modi on the 100-year journey of the Sangh, the spirit of nation first is always paramount for every volunteer

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the remarkable, unprecedented, and inspiring journey of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) over 100 years. He said that the spirit of nation first has always been paramount in every endeavor of RSS volunteers. He said, “In the next few days, we will be celebrating Vijayadashami. This Vijayadashami will be very special for another reason. This day marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. The Sangh’s journey over a century is as remarkable, unprecedented, and inspiring as it is.

He said that when the Sangh was founded 100 years ago, the country was bound in the chains of slavery for centuries. Centuries of slavery had deeply hurt our self-respect and self-confidence. The world’s oldest civilization was facing an identity crisis. The countrymen were becoming victims of inferiority complex. Therefore, along with the country’s independence, it was also important that the country be free from ideological slavery.”

During this, he remembered RSS founder Keshav Baliram Hedgewar. He said, Hedgewar ji began to ponder over this subject and then for this Bhagiratha task, he founded the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh on the auspicious occasion of Vijayadashami in 1925. After his demise, Guru ji carried forward this great yagya of national service.

He said, Param Pujya Guru ji used to say, Idam Rashtraya Idam Na Mam, meaning, this is not mine, this belongs to the nation. This is the inspiration to rise above self-interest and have a spirit of dedication for the nation. This statement of Guruji Golwalkar ji has shown the path of sacrifice and service to millions of volunteers. The spirit of sacrifice and service and the teaching of discipline is the true strength of the Sangh.
