Asaduddin Owaisi was asked, “What would you have done if you were the Prime Minister at the time of the Pahalgam attack?”

New Delhi:  All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Tuesday said that there was a golden opportunity to give a befitting reply to Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attack, but the central government ignored the sentiments of the nation by stalling the action. Speaking to reporters in Pune, Owaisi said, “As an Indian, I want to say that there was an opportunity to give a befitting reply to Pakistan after the Pahalgam attack. I am surprised why the government stopped it. The atmosphere in the entire country was ready, but the action was stalled. Such opportunities do not come again and again.”

Responding to a question about what he would do if he were prime minister, Owaisi said he wasn’t interested in such hypothetical questions. “I focus on reality and know my limitations,” he said. “My goal isn’t just to become prime minister or a minister.”

Owaisi claimed that drone activity from Pakistan was observed from Gujarat to Kashmir, leading to a war-like situation. He said, “The government should not have backed down at such a time. Now they are talking about taking over PoK in Parliament.”

Significantly, the government has clarified that Operation Sindoor has been paused, not terminated. The operation was launched on April 22 following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which killed 26 people. India retaliated by targeting terrorist hideouts and air bases.

Owaisi also criticized the central government’s policy towards Pakistan during the Asia Cup cricket tournament and announced his intention to contest the upcoming municipal elections in Maharashtra.
