New Delhi: Mohsin Naqvi, the Pakistan Cricket Board chief, the country’s Home Minister, and the President of the Asian Cricket Council, has finally capitulated to India. He has now apologized for the trophy drama and the accusations leveled against Indian players. After Pakistan’s defeat to the Indian team, Naqvi disappeared with the trophy. Following this, he was not only vilified globally but also criticized within Pakistan. Just a day earlier, Rajiv Shukla, representing India, had also reprimanded him.
After losing to the Indian team, Pakistani players including captain Salman Ali Agha sat in the dressing room. Its board chief Naqvi kept waiting alone. On the other hand, India had already told that India’s captain Suryakumar Yadav will not take the winning trophy from Naqvi at any cost. Despite knowing this, he insisted on handing over the trophy with his own hands, but when he did not get any response, he isolated himself on the field. Later, he got the trophy returned by his men and himself disappeared from the field. However, now after apologizing, Naqvi has asked Team India’s captain Suryakumar Yadav to take the trophy.
Following Mohsin Naqvi’s actions, the Indian players celebrated without the trophy. The limit was reached when Naqvi took the Asia Cup trophy and medals with him to his holster, despite protocol requiring the trophy to be kept at the ACC office. Furthermore, the BCCI made it clear that Naqvi would have to answer for Naqvi’s actions at the upcoming Asian Cricket Council meeting.
After winning the final of the Asia Cup 2025, when the Indian team was waiting for the presentation ceremony, Naqvi insisted on handing over the trophy. The Indian team had already made it clear that they would not accept the trophy from Naqvi. Consequently, Team India celebrated on stage without the trophy. During this, Naqvi and Pakistan were booed extensively in the stadium.
