Patna: These days, there’s a lot of buzz in national politics surrounding the Bihar elections. Meanwhile, Tej Pratap Yadav, the elder son of Rashtriya Janata Dal supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, has created a stir with a major statement. Speaking to the media, Tej Pratap said that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and his younger brother Tejashwi Yadav are under Lalu Prasad Yadav’s protection, not him.
Janshakti Janata Dal chief Tej Pratap said, “Karpoori Thakur, Mahatma Gandhi, Baba Saheb Ambedkar, and Gandhiji were people’s leaders… Lalu ji has his protection over Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav. We don’t have his protection. We have the protection of the poor and youth of Bihar. We are moving forward under this protection. We will make it happen for the entire state of Bihar on our own.”
It’s worth noting that his father, Lalu Yadav, has expelled Tej Pratap from the party and family. The latest controversy between Tej Pratap and his father stemmed from a social media post in which Tej Pratap claimed to have been in a relationship with a woman for 12 years, despite a pending divorce case in court.
sAfter being expelled from his party and family, Tej Pratap is now contesting elections under the banner of his new party, the Janshakti Janata Dal. Tej Pratap had said that “choosing death would be better than returning to that party (RJD).” Mahua had elected Tej Pratap as MLA for the first time in 2015, but in 2020, he was fielded from the Hasanpur seat in Samastipur district. There was talk that Mahua had become “unsafe” for him due to his perceived lack of popularity.
