‘If TVK comes to power, everyone will have a permanent house and a motorcycle in every courtyard’: Vijay’s big promise in Kanchipuram

Chennai:  Actor-turned-politician Vijay, head of the Tamilga Vetri Kazhagam, resumed his campaign for the 2026 assembly elections on Sunday after a nearly two-month break. Targeting the ruling DMK, Vijay said the party has now forgotten Anna (C.N. Annadurai). He accused the DMK of practicing dynastic politics.

TVK leader Vijay met with people from Kanchipuram district this morning. A total of 2,000 people from Kanchipuram district attended the meeting at the Jeppiaar Institute of Technology campus near Sunguvarchatram. Vijay addressed them for about 30 minutes, explaining the plans the TVK would implement for the people if it came to power.

In his speech, Vijay said, “Kanchipuram is the district where Arignar Anna was born. MGR kept Arignar Anna under the banner of his party because he was his guide. But I don’t need to tell you what the people who are currently controlling the party started by Anna have done. People know this very well. Personally, we have no problem with them (DMK). Personally, they can behave badly if they want. But I will not condone the drama of deceiving people to get votes.”

“If TVK comes to power, we will build permanent houses for everyone. Every household will have a motorcycle. Our goal is to have a car. The economy will be developed accordingly. We will create a situation where everyone has at least a degree. We will ensure that at least one person in a family has a stable income. We will make government hospitals reliable. Above all, we will prioritize maintaining law and order.”

Vijay launched an indirect attack on the DMK for its dynastic politics. He mocked the DMK and accused it of hypocrisy. He said that the TVK did not make “hollow claims” about abolishing NEET like the DMK, but instead demanded that education be shifted from the Concurrent List of the Constitution to the State List.

In fact, a stampede occurred during Vijay’s rally in Karur on September 27th, claiming the lives of 41 people. The Supreme Court has ordered a CBI investigation into the Karur stampede. The CBI investigation will be monitored by a committee headed by a former Supreme Court judge. This is the first time Vijay has addressed his party workers and the public since then.
