New Delhi: The case of IAS officer Santosh Verma is showing no signs of calming down. The Brahmin community is outraged by the officer’s statement. Everyone from the public to politicians are calling for his dismissal. Bhopal MP Alok Sharma met with Union Minister Jitendra Singh on Tuesday and demanded that Santosh Verma be dismissed from his post.
In a letter to Union Minister Jitendra Singh, the MP demanded that an immediate departmental inquiry be conducted against IAS Santosh Verma. He should be suspended pending the inquiry to prevent him from abusing his position. Furthermore, if the investigation finds the matter to be true, strict disciplinary action, such as dismissal, should be taken. Posting on the social media site X, MP Alok Sharma wrote that today (Tuesday) he met Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State in the Union Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, in Parliament House and requested him to take cognizance of the statement made by IAS Santosh Verma in Bhopal recently about the daughters of the Brahmin community and to take strict disciplinary action against him if found guilty.
The provincial convention of Ajax was held in Bhopal on November 23. Addressing the convention, IAS officer Santosh Verma said that reservation should be granted to my son unless a Brahmin donates his daughter to him or forms a relationship with her.
He said that the “donation” in his statement refers to the “gift of a daughter in marriage.” His statement was distorted. Some people did this to further their own selfish interests. They made the statement viral, and they took one or two lines from his 27-minute speech and publicized them. He also said that if his comments have, knowingly or unknowingly, offended any community, he apologizes.
