Uma Bharti backtracked from her statement of contesting the elections

Bhopal:  Madhya Pradesh BJP’s firebrand leader and former Chief Minister Uma Bharti has backtracked on her statement about contesting elections. Having expressed her desire to contest elections at any cost, Bharti has now placed the entire responsibility in the hands of the party high command. She also objected to the statement of IAS officer Santosh Verma, who made objectionable remarks about Brahmin daughters.

It should be noted that recently, during a discussion with reporters in Bhopal, Uma Bharti had said, “I will contest the 2029 Lok Sabha elections at any cost.” However, today, during a visit to her home district of Tikamgarh, she said, “I will contest only if the party asks me to.” Here, she explained her preference, saying she would only contest from the Jhansi Lok Sabha seat, provided the current MP, Anurag Sharma, has no objections.

She recently commented on Madhya Pradesh IAS officer Santosh Verma’s controversial statement about Brahmins, saying, “This is a very misuse of language. I strongly condemn it. The government must take full legal action in this matter. You cannot say this. Society is going through a sensitive phase today, and flammability is increasing. Therefore, educated people must exercise restraint in their speech.”
