Athawale’s party seeks share in Mahayuti alliance in municipal elections

Mumbai:  Ramdas Athawale’s party, the Republican Party of India, has demanded its share in the Mahayuti alliance for the 29 municipal corporation elections in Maharashtra. Athawale’s party has demanded 25 seats in Mumbai, while it has demanded 7 to 10 seats in other municipal corporations. The party said that it should be given a respectable share in the alliance.

Republican Party of India leaders believe they have a role as an important constituent of the NDA. The party’s national president, Ramdas Athawale, holds a ministerial position at the Centre. Therefore, they should receive a respectable share in the elections. At the municipal corporation level, Republican Party of India officials are meeting with Bharatiya Janata Party officials and demanding a respectable share. The Republican Party of India is demanding 7 to 10 seats in each municipal corporation, while in Mumbai, the Republican Party of India has submitted a demand for 25 seats.
