The Ramji Bill was passed amid protests in the Lok Sabha, with the opposition tearing up papers and throwing them in the House

New Delhi:  On December 18, 2025, the G Ramji Bill was passed in the Lok Sabha amid strong opposition. The opposition created a ruckus upon the bill’s passage, tearing up the bill’s papers and throwing them away. The atmosphere in the House became so tense that proceedings had to be adjourned until tomorrow.

Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan responded in the Lok Sabha on the Bharat Guarantee for Employment and Livelihood Mission (Rural) Bill, also known as VB-G Ram G. During this, the opposition continued to raise slogans against the bill. Opposition MPs entered the well and threw papers.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan said, “We do not discriminate against anyone. Bapu is our inspiration and reverence. The entire country is one for us. The country is not just a piece of land for us. Our views are not narrow or limited.”

Congress MP KG Venugopal asked the Speaker to refer the bill to a standing committee or a joint parliamentary committee. However, the Lok Sabha Speaker rejected the request, stating that the bill had already been debated for more than 14 hours. Meanwhile, when the opposition began sloganeering, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan demanded the debate continue.

Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh said, “How many schemes were named after the Nehru family? 55 state government schemes were named after Rajiv. 74 roads were named after Rajiv, and 15 national parks after Nehru. The Congress party has this naming craze.”
