Siddaramaiah and D.K. Shivakumar met Rahul Gandhi amid speculation about a leadership change

Mysuru: Amid the ongoing leadership tussle within the ruling Congress government in Karnataka, a significant political development has emerged. Senior party leader Rahul Gandhi briefly met with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar at Mysuru’s Mandakalli airport. Although the meeting was brief, it has sparked speculation within power circles given the current political situation in the state.

According to party sources, Rahul Gandhi was returning to New Delhi after attending an event in Tamil Nadu’s Nilgiris district. During his transit at the airport, he held discussions with the two senior leaders, both separately and together. Interestingly, Rahul Gandhi passed through the Mysuru airport twice on Tuesday, and Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar were present on both occasions. Although official details of the conversation between the leaders have not been released, it is believed that the ongoing internal rivalry for the Chief Minister’s post and a possible cabinet reshuffle were informally discussed. Additionally, discussions are reported to have taken place regarding the Congress’s “Save MNREGA” campaign in the state and the state government’s strategy on issues related to the central government. Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar have long been awaiting a formal and detailed meeting with Rahul Gandhi, so this brief meeting is being seen as a sign of major political changes to come.
