Rajkot: The three-match ODI series between India and New Zealand is underway, with the second match being played at the Niranjan Shah Cricket Stadium in Rajkot. New Zealand defeated India by seven wickets to level the series 1-1.
In this match, New Zealand got off to a steady start in their chase. Fast bowler Harshit Rana provided the Indian team with the first breakthrough, dismissing Devon Conway for 16 runs. Henry Nicholls and Will Young then tried to stabilize the innings, scoring runs off bad balls to keep the score moving.
However, this partnership didn’t last long. Fast bowler Prasidh Krishna dismissed Henry Nicholls in his second over. Nicholls mistimed the ball, which hit his bat and then hit the stumps. Nicholls returned to the pavilion after scoring just 10 runs. With this wicket, New Zealand’s score fell to 46 for two.
Daryl Mitchell then led the innings with Will Young. Both batsmen played with restraint, facing the Indian bowlers and maintaining the run rate. New Zealand’s score gradually increased, and in the 23rd over, the team crossed the 100-run mark. During this period, a good partnership was seen between Young and Mitchell.
Kuldeep Yadav dismissed Will Young in the 38th over of the innings. Young had played a brilliant innings of 87 runs. He tried to hit a shot off Kuldeep’s bowling, but Nitish Reddy took a brilliant catch to dismiss him. With this wicket, New Zealand’s score dropped to 208 for three.
Daryl Mitchell held firm at one end and continued his brilliant batting. Despite the pressure from the Indian bowlers, Mitchell reached his century. He reached 100 runs in 96 balls and led his team to the target with ease.
Star wicketkeeper-batsman KL Rahul performed brilliantly in this match, scoring a century. When the Indian team was under pressure after early setbacks, KL Rahul took charge and rescued the team from a difficult situation.

Rahul smashed a brilliant six off the last ball of the over to reach his century. Rahul’s century came in just 87 balls, demonstrating his excellent timing and confidence.
New Zealand won the toss and elected to bowl first. India’s KL Rahul and captain Shubman Gill also played a useful innings, scoring 56 runs. Christian Clarke was the most successful bowler for New Zealand, taking three wickets. Kyle Jamieson, Zachary Faulks, Jaden Lennox, and Michael Bracewell each took one wicket.
