Mexico City: Bird flu has been confirmed in a 3-year-old girl from Durango state, western Mexico City. This is the first human case of the virus here. Health officials said that Type A H5N1 influenza is spreading in America through animals and some humans. The Health Ministry said in a statement that the girl has been admitted to a hospital in Torreon, near Ahuila state. She was initially given anti-flu medicine. The statement said that it is not yet known how the girl got infected with the virus.
