“Indian Overseas Congress, USA, congratulates Shri. Sunny Joseph on his appointment as the new KPCC President. Our best wishes also go to Shafi Parambil, P.C. Vishnunath, and A.P. Anil Kumar as the new working presidents. We hope that Sunny Joseph will bring a new urgency within the party cadre and unity in the party hierarchy while providing a strong but thoughtful leadership as the State will be facing the elections early next year,” said George Abraham, vice-chairman of the IOCUSA. “However, if he is to succeed in ending the Pinarayi rule, which has been known as the most corrupt and disastrous regime in Kerala’s history, he needs a lot of help from the senior party leaders who are jockeying for the position to become the next CM,” he added.
The appointments of the working Presidents not only signify a generational shift but also inject youth and dynamism, offering a ray of hope for the party’s revival. These appointments, along with Adoor Prakash as the UDF convener, may have also taken into account the caste and communal balance AICC might have sought in making these appointments.
Sunny is known for his calm demeanor and balanced approach to dealing with critical issues. Yet, he has been a strong advocate and articulate voice for people in the high ranges. His immediate challenge would be bringing the warring factions into unity and preparing for the upcoming elections. The high command, considering the growing estrangement of the Christian community from the Congress party, has carefully made these leadership changes to address these concerns.
“The Indian Overseas Congress has received Sunny Joseph warmly in his last visit to the United States and is looking forward to a closer working relationship with the new team headed by him.” Mr. Abraham added.
