Big split in AAP: 15 councillors joined hands with former leader of the house Goyal, announced new party

New Delhi:  Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has suffered a major setback in Delhi. 15 councillors of the party have resigned. Former leader of the house Mukesh Goyal has claimed to form a new party, which he has named Indraprastha Vikas Party. He has claimed that 13 councillors have joined him. He has said that councillors from Congress and BJP can also join us.

Mukesh Goyal said, AAP came with full majority, but the party used to just give orders. No one was listened to. Only the opposition was blamed. I have been a councillor since 1997 but I have never seen anything like this.

He further said that the corporation councillors were deceived that they would get one lakh rupees, but they have not received it till now. Two years are left, our work will not be done. I have resigned from the membership of AAP. We have formed a new party and many councillors from BJP-Congress will also join us.

A few days before the elections to be held on April 25, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had announced that it would not contest the mayoral elections in Delhi. The party had said that it currently does not have enough numbers in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). It had said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is in majority.

AAP Delhi President Saurabh Bhardwaj said today that we have decided that we will not field an Aam Aadmi Party candidate in the mayoral elections this time. BJP should choose its own mayor, BJP should form its permanent committee and rule Delhi without any excuses. He said that Delhi now has a triple engine government and BJP should show what they can do for the people of the national capital. In the MCD elections, BJP’s Raja Iqbal Singh was elected the new mayor of Delhi.
