“When the time comes, we will see” – Jaishankar’s clear message on US bill on Russia

Washington: Indian Foreign Minister Dr. S Jaishankar is on a US tour. On Wednesday, when he was questioned about the new bill of US MP Lindsey Graham, he said that the Indian Embassy and our ambassador are in touch with Lindsey Graham, and once the bill is passed, we will see what to do. Addressing a press conference, Jaishankar said that India is concerned about its energy security and efforts are being made to convince Graham about this.

It is worth noting that US Senator Lindsay Graham is bringing the Russia Sanctions Bill, which has a provision to impose 500 percent tariff on goods coming to America from countries buying oil from Russia. If this happens, India’s problems may increase because ever since the Russia-Ukraine war started, India has been buying a large part of its oil needs from Russia. Now the situation is that India is buying more oil from Russia alone than it buys from Gulf countries.

When Dr. Jaishankar was questioned about Lindsey Graham’s bill, he said that whatever is happening regarding Senator Lindsey Graham’s bill can also affect our interests, so we are in touch with Lindsey Graham. Our ambassador is talking to him. He has been informed about our energy security concerns.
