Sikar, Rajasthan: A video of devotees being beaten up at the famous religious site Khatu Shyamji temple premises is going viral on social media. In the video, it can be seen that local shopkeepers and their employees are brutally beating the devotees with sticks. There is huge anger among the people after the incident.
According to the information, during heavy rain on Friday, some devotees entered a shop to hide. The shopkeeper asked them to come out, which led to an argument. When the dispute escalated, the shopkeeper and his associates attacked the devotees with sticks.
In the viral video, it can be seen that three shopkeepers are seen beating a female devotee. This scene is said to be near the main gate of the temple. Questions are also being raised on the role of the local administration and police regarding this incident.
As soon as the incident was reported, the police took action and arrested four accused. The search for other accused is on. The police say that the case is being investigated seriously and strict action will be taken against the culprits.
After the video of the incident surfaced, people have expressed their anger on social media. One user wrote, “Violence cannot be tolerated at places of faith. This is extremely shameful.”
Another user said, “Devotees from all over the country come to Khatu Shyamji, such incidents harm both tourism and religious sentiments.”
It is worth noting that recently, an incident of security personnel beating up devotees was also reported in Mehandipur Balaji temple. Such continuous incidents have raised questions on the security arrangements of religious places.
