JP Nadda canceled the dinner party to be hosted for NDA MPs, citing flood disaster as the reason

New Delhi: BJP President JP Nadda has canceled the dinner party of NDA MPs to be held at his residence on Saturday. This decision was taken in view of the serious situation arising out of floods across the country. Floods continue to wreak havoc in many states including Punjab and the situation remains worrying.

This dinner party was to be organized as part of the preparations for the Vice Presidential election, in which NDA MPs including Prime Minister Narendra Modi were invited. Now it has been postponed for the time being.

It is worth noting that the Vice President’s election is to be held on September 9 and Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan has been nominated by the NDA, while India Block has fielded former Supreme Court judge B Sudarshan Reddy. This election is taking place after the sudden resignation of Jagdeep Dhankhar. Dhankhar left the post of Vice President on the night of July 21 citing health reasons. Based on the number of MPs in Parliament, it can be said that NDA candidate Radhakrishnan is maintaining a clear lead. At the same time, India Block is trying to garner support till the last moment.
