Rajya Sabha elections: BJP announces three candidates, including one Muslim

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced the names of its candidates for the biennial Rajya Sabha elections from Jammu and Kashmir, releasing the official list. Meanwhile, the ruling National Conference (NC) in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday announced the names of its three candidates for the Rajya Sabha elections and claimed that talks were underway with the Congress for the fourth seat.

The Bharatiya Janata Party’s Central Election Committee issued a press release on Sunday stating that the party has announced the names of candidates for three separate biennial elections in Jammu and Kashmir. The BJP has nominated Ghulam Mohammad Mir for one Rajya Sabha seat under Notification 01.

A BJP press release stated that Rakesh Mahajan has been nominated for one Rajya Sabha seat under Notification 2. Satpal Sharma has been nominated for two Rajya Sabha seats under Notification 3. This announcement was issued by National General Secretary and Headquarters Incharge Arun Singh.

Meanwhile, based on its strength in the Assembly, the NC has a lead in three seats, while the BJP has a lead in one. The NC announced its candidates for three seats, ahead of the BJP. The ruling party also claimed it was in talks with the Congress for the fourth seat.
