Samskara Sahithi Professional Drama Festival from Oct 18 in Thiruvananthapuram

Thiruvananthapuram: The first Professional Drama Festival and Cultural Festival organized by the Thiruvananthapuram District Committee of Samskara Sahithi will be held from October 18 to 23 at Mannarang, Bharath Bhavan, Thiruvananthapuram.

From among 33 professional drama entries, five outstanding productions selected by an expert committee will compete at the festival. The winning drama will receive a cash award of ₹55,555 and a trophy, the highest prize money ever awarded to a professional drama in Kerala. In addition, many other awards will be presented in various categories.

The festival will be inaugurated by K.C. Venugopal MP on Saturday, October 18 at 5 p.m.
On October 22, actor Indrans will receive the first Sukumar Memorial Award, to be presented by former Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala.The valedictory function and award night on October 23 will be inaugurated by Opposition Leader V.D. Satheeshan.

A daily cultural Festival featuring leading personalities from the fields of art, culture, society, and politics including KPCC President Adv. Sunny Joseph, former KPCC President K. Muraleedharan, UDF Convenor Adoor Prakash MP, Soorya Krishnamoorthy, and Krishna Poojappura will begin each evening at 5 p.m, followed by the drama performances at 6 p.m.

At the concluding ceremony, Sahithi Theatres, Thiruvananthapuram will stage their acclaimed production “Muchittu Kalikkarante Makal,” which has completed over 250 performances across various stages.

Details of the event were announced at a press conference held at the Thiruvananthapuram Press Club, attended by Samskara Sahithi Chairman C.R. Mahesh MLA, Soorya Krishnamoorthy, Payyanoor Murali, District Chairman Poozhanad Gopan, State Vice Chairman K.R.G Unnithan and State General Secretary K.M Unnikrishnan.
