No more arbitrary parking! QR code payments in Delhi

New Delhi: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has taken a major decision to curb the arbitrary collection of fees by parking contractors. As a pilot project, the MCD has implemented a QR code system at five parking lots. Anyone parking at any of the five parking lots will be required to scan the QR code and enter their vehicle details upon entering the parking lot.

Afterward, when the vehicle is removed from the parking lot, the QR code must be scanned again. The hourly parking fee will then appear on the screen, which can also be paid online. MCD officials say that after the pilot project’s success, it will be implemented across Delhi.

MCD officials have warned the contractors that their tender will be cancelled as soon as a complaint is received of charging more than the prescribed fee. When MCD issues a tender for any parking, the parking rates are also fixed at the same time. In which Rs 20 per hour and Rs 100 for 24 hours have been fixed for cars. Similarly, Rs 10 per hour and Rs 50 for 24 hours have been fixed for two-wheelers.

for several days that contractors in many parking lots charge arbitrary parking fees. Following this, the MCD took this into consideration and implemented it as a pilot project in five of its parking lots. If this initiative works, it will be implemented throughout Delhi.
