Bengaluru: A controversy has resurfaced within the Congress party in Karnataka over the Chief Minister’s post. This controversy began with a statement by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s son, Yatindra Siddaramaiah. Yatindra stated that the high command has made it clear that there will be no change in the Chief Minister’s position for the time being.
He had previously stated that those hoping for a leadership change are dreaming, but the national leadership has already resolved the issue. Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar did not directly comment on Yatindra’s statement, saying that the Chief Minister himself would respond. However, his supporters were angered. Congress MLA Iqbal Hussain criticized Yatindra, saying that discipline is paramount in the party and no one can override the high command. Leaders close to the Chief Minister supported Yatindra. Urban Development Minister Byrathi Suresh said that the high command’s directive regarding the leadership change is clear and the Chief Minister will follow it.
