New Delhi: Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said that the government is shying away from discussions in Parliament.
Countering the statement made by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said, “…the Prime Minister is hiding behind the Speaker. Yesterday he didn’t have the courage to come to the House because three women were standing in front of the bench. What nonsense is this?…There is no discussion because the government doesn’t want it.”
Before the House adjourned today, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said, “The country saw what happened in the House yesterday. Everyone witnessed how MPs tried to approach the Prime Minister’s chair in the House. I had received information that something unpleasant could have happened. To ensure that such a situation does not happen again, I asked PM Modi not to come to the House.”
Today is the seventh day of Parliament’s Budget Session. On the seventh day of the Budget Session, the Motion of Thanks on the President’s Address was passed by voice vote amid uproar in the Lok Sabha. This marks the first time in nearly 22 years that a Motion of Thanks has been passed without a Prime Minister’s speech. However, the reason behind PM Modi’s absence has now been revealed. According to reports, Congress had prepared to physically attack PM Modi, which is why the speech was not delivered.
