Srinagar-Jammu Vande Bharat extension suddenly halted

Just hours after announcing the launch of the Vande Bharat Express service from Srinagar to Jammu on March 1, the Railway Board put the decision on hold on Tuesday night. Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal said, “Due to unavoidable circumstances, the extension of the Vande Bharat train from March 1 has been postponed by the Railway Board.” The Railways expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to passengers and stated that a new timetable will be released soon.

On Tuesday, a trial run of the semi-high-speed train was conducted between Jammu and Katra. The railway administration had completed preparations for the train’s operation. Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal had also released the Vande Bharat timetable.

According to sources, the extension notification was immediately withdrawn after receiving input from security agencies regarding the train’s operation. Northern Railway officials told media that the operation has been halted due to technical reasons. A timetable for the Jammu Tawi to Srinagar Vande Bharat train route will be released soon. Preparations for the launch of the direct train service between Jammu and Srinagar had been underway for a long time.

The Vande Bharat Express previously operated only between Katra and Srinagar. Plans have been made to extend it to Jammu to provide passengers with a more convenient and faster journey. This train will significantly reduce travel time between Jammu and the Kashmir Valley, making travel easier and more comfortable. The Vande Bharat Express features modern amenities, improved safety, and comfortable seating. With its high speed, passengers will experience a comfortable and smooth journey. This train will prove extremely useful for local residents, students, businessmen, and tourists.
