New Delhi: Parliament is continuing to deliberate on addressing the problems of malpractice and paper leaks in competitive exams across the country. The Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, witnessed a heated debate between the ruling and opposition parties in the Lok Sabha.
The government has described this law as a crucial and historic step for the future of the country’s youth. The central government argues that this strict law will bring transparency to competitive examinations and effectively crack down on the cheating mafia. It will protect the rights of meritorious students who prepare fairly.
On the other hand, opposition parties have criticized the central government for several provisions of this bill. During the debate, senior Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi launched a scathing attack on the government’s policies. He alleged that the government is not even remotely serious about the country’s education system and the future of millions of students, but is merely introducing such laws for show.
